Level 2 Award and Certificate for Animal Nursing Assistant

​

This qualification provides learners with the information required to play a valuable support role to qualified veterinary staff and to assist owners in the correct management of their companion animals.

This certificate is accepted by some course providers as an equivalent to the science requirement for the RCVS Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing.

Animal Kingdom
Practical Small Animal Care Skills
Level 1 Certificate Practical Small Animal Care Skills

The aim of this qualification is to allow learners to gain work-related skills in the area of small animal care,  develop generic employability skills, prepare for further training within this occupational area and gain an insight into core activities within animal care and welfare in order to allow them to make informed career decisions.

​

  • Assist with the care of animals

  • Principles of the care of animals

  • Maintain the safety of self and others in the workplace

  • Assist with maintaining the health and wellbeing of animals

  • Promote and maintain the health and wellbeing of animals

Practical Farm Animal Care Skills
Level 1 Certificate Practical Farm Animal Care Skills

The aim of this qualification is to allow learners to gain work-related skills in the area of farm animal care, develop generic employability skills, prepare for further training within this occupational area and gain an insight into core activities within animal care and welfare in order to allow them to make informed career decisions.

  • Assist with the care of animals

  • Principles of the care of animals

  • Farm animal health 

  • Maintain the safety of self and others in the workplace

  • Principles of the preparation and the monitoring of outdoor livestock

  • Provide feed and water to animals

  • Promote and maintain the health and wellbeing of animals

Practical Countryside Skills
Level 1 Certificate in Practical Countryside Skills

The aim of this qualification is to allow learners to gain work-related skills relating to animal care, countryside and wildlife. Learners will be able to develop generic employability skills, prepare for further training within this occupational area and gain an insight into how our society impacts the countryside and wildlife.

 

Course units:​ 

  • Animals in the wild and in society

  • Principles of the care of animals

  • Principles of the movement and handling of small animals

  • Assist with maintaining the health and wellbeing of animals

  • Promote and maintain the health and wellbeing of animals

Canine Hydrotherapy
Level 3 & 4 Canine Hydrotherapy

​

Two courses will be available for canine hydrotherapy; Level 3 Certificate in Canine Hydrotherapy and Level 4 Diploma in Canine Hydrotherapy.

​

These courses will be delivered through blended learning and compulsory practical experience and assessment days.

​

The aim of this course is to allow learners to gain work-related practical skills and understanding how and why this therapy is applied. The course will be taught in line with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966.
